Ward 8

We will hold our National Conference from August 23 to August 26, 2018 in Washington D.C.

Our 2018 national conference theme is “Team Work Makes the Dream Work”!  During our National Conference we will host our service project in Ward 8 of the Washington D. C. area.

Our goal is to pay the utility bills for 500 target families, east of the Anacostia River.  District of Columbia’s poorer residents are increasingly concentrated east of the Anacostia River.  These areas are underserved, low-income residential neighborhoods.  They are some of the poorest and most crime ridden sections of the city.  Most residents live in large public and low-income apartment complexes.

Energy assistance programs are currently inadequate, forcing people to choose between paying their energy bills and other basic necessities. Only 30-50% of eligible households for energy assistance programs receive the assistance. Most utilities offer a low-income discount, but those plans are underfunded and vary across the states. The total cost of current low-income programs amounts to less than 1% of utility revenues.

The wards east of the Anacostia River are not exempt from these staggering statistics.  MPBP, Inc. would like to help! Our plan includes your participation.  We are focusing on providing energy assistance to our 500 target families within the wards, at $200 per family.

Our team, this team, MPBP, Inc. and you, can work together towards a goal of giving back to the community wards with humility and respect.  It is an obtainable goal!  It is an achievable goal!  Together we can make it happen!  To accomplish an undertaking of this magnitude we must embody our conference theme: “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!”! We hope we can count on you to realize our dream.
